In Which Our Hero investigates a bank robbery.
We're back, and in explosive style! Marcus beats a hasty retreat from the Science Island Pixel Hunt failure and sets off to the marketplace. On a hunch, he stops by the bank where Sam the Banker Man informs him that the impossible has happened - the bank has been robbed! The robber was apparently too busy to notice that he left his toolkit lying in the middle of the bank's floor, so Marcus picks it up and takes it to Shakra for identification.
Shakra says he can't do anything with it, but that Erasmus might be able to help. So it's off to Nob Hill and the teleporting hat which brings us to Erasmus' gorgeous, VGA front door. Inside, Erasmus and Fenrus shoot the shit with Marcus for a while, telling their usual jokes and generally being great comic relief. Erasmus casts a spell on the toolbox and reveals that the previous owner is obsessed with his hand, or his arm, or something. Something about hands. Hmm...
Erasmus also mentions that an item was stolen from his house - that someone actually made it past the cloud guardian and took a stone he was studying, and that it probably has some connection to Atlantis. Sounds like something we should keep our eyes peeled for...

Quest for Glory Epic Let's Play Part 138: The Rest of Town
In Which Our Hero meets two very interesting young ladies.
Back in the marketplace, Marrak goes on a bit (OK, a lot) more about Silmaria, his family, and his homeland. How is lovely old Raseir? Turns out it's got a new ruler - none other than Zayishah, the hottie we traded clothes with so many years ago. It seems like forever actually. She's doing pretty well for herself. I wonder if she'd like to meet the King of Silmaria?
Moving along to the magic shop Marcus is introduced to Shakra, a new character - and Rakeesh's son. Shakra's a special kind of liontaur since he's the only male to practice magic, because magic is a woman's art. I also don't notice any female liontaurs around Shakra's shop. Hmm... At any rate, Sharka has the mystic magnets, which will prove to be one of the most useful items in the game. So Marcus picks up a pair.
Right anyway, by this time the marketplace is starting to shut down so it's off to the Dead Parrot where Marcus meets Budar and Nawar, two charming if slightly... over the top young ladies. Marcus has never been to a strip club before and hasn't been on the receiving end of the hard sell, but he seems to enjoy himself. Note: it's not a strip club in the game, just way over-the-top innuendo. Also enjoy the dialogue written for the thief character.

Quest For Glory Epic Let's Play Parts 126 and 127: Ad Avis Redux and the Shadows of Darkness
In Which Our Hero meets an old enemy and meets Katrina for real, gets smacked around a little, and defeats a really ugly monster.

Katrina called and it's time to answer. Her note said to meet her outside of the castle at dusk, so we'd better go see what she wants. After all, we don't want to piss off a vampire wizard any more than we already have.
Except, what's this? It's not Katrina at all! Ad Avis! Hey, we killed you once (sorry!) and we can do it again! Oh GOD please not the hounds.
Marcus wakes up in Katrina's dungeon - not the first time he's ended up in the slammer thanks to Ad Avis. Prick. Luckily the chains aren't hard for MARCUS SMASH to break and after grabbing a handy wooden stake and listening to some goons, Marcus locates the secret passage out of the dungeon which dumps him right at..
Katrina's bedroom.
Oh my.
She looks so peaceful when she's passed out and her hair isn't flying everywhere. Too bad that doesn't last, as Marcus hesitates Katrina wakes up and it's back to the dungeon where Dominatrix Katrina whips Marcus and smacks him around for a while until he is Geas-ed to locate the five lost rituals. Well, they aren't lost, because we already did that - so he can just turn around and go back inside.
Then it's off to the Dark One's cave, where we're going to summon Avoozl - but not before Marcus goes toe-to-toe with the pit horror, which turns out to be the last remaining Borgov. Talk about ugly inbred nobility...

Quest For Glory Epic Let's Play Part Ninety-One: Women Living and Dead
In Which Our Hero deals with various women in various stages of life and unlife.

Women. Marcus just doesn't seem to have much luck with them, eh? This video is like navigating a minefield of the fairer sex.
The first woman just doesn't believe that she's dead. Dead as a doornail. In fact, she's a ghost, but she won't listen to Marcus when he tries to inform her this is why she's so confused.
The second? Remember Katrina? She's a piece of work. She teaches Marcus magic, gives him a healing potion, responds well to his flirting but then leaves at the first sign of commitment. Sheesh.
Back at the Inn to lick our wounds, we meet a whole new character: Punny Bones. More about him in tomorrow's update...

Quest For Glory Epic Let's Play Part Sixty-Five: A Very Sexy Peace Conference
In Which Our Hero initiates a peace conference, and actually gets to enjoy his marriage.

This is a slightly shorter video with a lot of dialogue, but it's the start of the endgame for Quest for Glory 3. We open right after we left off, with Johari in the jungle. She takes us to the Leopardman village where she says we have to wait until dark to go inside. It's still full daylight. I wonder how we can pass the time?
Cue the funk music, 'cuz it's jungle fever time!
After proving actions speak louder than words, we witness the change ritual and are introduced to the Leopardman leader. We hand the Drum over to him and receive the Spear of Death in return - what we need to return to the Simbani, who will now discuss peace with the Leopardmen in Tarna.
So we arrange the peace conference. We're almost asleep during one of the really boring parts when all of a sudden our Marcus sense starts tingling. This happens about five seconds before the Leopardman leader kills the Laibon, Yesufu kills the Leopardman leader, a Demon leaves the Leopardman leader's body, and we run like hell out of the city so we can figure out how to fix this mess.

Quest For Glory Epic Let's Play Part Forty-Nine: Journey to the Simbani Village
In Which Our Hero takes a long trip across East Fricana.Video With Subtitles
Before heading out into the wild, we appear before the Council of Judgement with Rakeesh to swear an oath to stop this war, or our honor will be forfeit and we face expulsion from Tarna. Not a big deal for us since we just got here, but that's a pretty big deal for our furry pal so I guess we should help him out.
We then set off across the savanna and Rakeesh instructs us in the ways of the Paladin, most of which we already know because we're been doing it since the start of last game. He fills us in our growing abilities and what to expect from the Simbani.
When we arrive at the Simbani village we're introduced to their leader, the Laibon, who fills us in on his side of this whole war thing. He tells us that the Leopardmen stole the Spear of Death, and it must have been the Leopardmen because it happened at night and Leopardmen travel at night. There are lots of other things that travel by night, but never mind that - definitely the Leopardmen. Also, Leopardmen use magic which we all know is tantamount to signing a written confession of stealing the Spear of Death.
Anyhoo, it looks like we've got our work cut out for us. At least we're not preventing a war over taxation of the Naboo system.

Quest for Glory Epic Let's Play Part Forty-Four:Far Out, Man
In Which Our Hero learns about his mission and meets a hippie.

Video With Subtitles
We've landed in Tarna, so it's time to figure out what the hell we're doing here exactly. Rakeesh and Kreesha explain the rumors of war and the political situation: the Simbani, who supply food for Tarna, have asked Tarna to go to war against the Leopardmen with them. Leopardmen are a shapeshifting tribe who look like Leopards.
Why do the Simbani want to fight the Leopardmen? Food? Resources? Better schools? Religious reasons? Oil? To prevent terror attacks? Who knows. It's our job to find out and to try to prevent the war if at all possible.
We hear of a peace mission sent to talk to the Leopardmen who were cowardly ambushed. Only one human survived. Rakeesh and Kreesha's daughter was part of the peace mission but her whereabouts are currently unknown. That's not good.
There's not much else to do here at the moment so we set off into Tarna, which looks a lot like a giant Ziggurat (and not really all that Egyptian, as the game manual would have us believe.) Our first stop: Salim's Apothecary. We get the lowdown on his various pharmacological pursuits and hear about this dream he has of a woman in the desert who has been transformed into a tree. You know, she sounds a lot like this girl we once helped...
Next time, we'll hit the Bazaar!

Quest for Glory Epic Let's Play Parts Twenty-One, Twenty-Two and Twenty-Three: Pills and Hippies, Enchanting Women and Bird-Things and Into the Desert
First Video With Subtitles
Second Video With Subtitles
Third Video With Subtitles
Three movies this time! I realized I had uploaded all three without doing any subtitles for them, so I'll just put 'em all out there at once. I'm going to try to compile some of this stuff into smaller, edited segments because there's a LOT of just wandering aimlessly in the desert in the third video (with hilarious and insightful commentary of course) but that shit's not going to last long with you guys.
Anyway - we get pills. We get a lamp. We go to the magic shop. We meet the astrologer and the Enchantress, and buy a lizard, and meet a griffin, and meet and old man, and meet a tree.
There's a lot of exposition but some really cool stuff as well.
And next time - Shema dances this night!

Quest for Glory Epic Let's Play Part Five: Wizards, Merchants, Monsters
Video With Subtitles
Without further ado, the next update! We start off wandering east of town and find Brauggi the Frost Giant who makes what amounts to a cameo appearance in the series - one of the few named characters to receive such a bit part. Remember those apples we bought in the first update? They're for him. Now we have a glowing gem. That will probably come in handy somewhere.
After dealing with Brauggi it's off to see Erasmus, whose house is a veritable museum of movie and Sierra game references. We also get our first (extended) Monty Python reference. When you're 12, that's pretty funny. It's still kind of funny I suppose.
Then it's off to go pick mushrooms and beat the bush - so to speak. Make a little money, kill a little time, take out our first brigand and head back to town to hear a sob story from Abdullah Doo, the merchant who will play a very big role in our life in Quest for Glory 2.
Hopefully I'll be able to crank a couple more of these out this weekend. 'Night all!

Quest for Glory Epic Let's Play Part Two: In which our Hero gets a name, some stats, and explores West Spielburg
There were a lot of good name suggestions, so I kind of took several and averaged them together to create something vaguely Paladin-y. Meet Marcus Warwick the Pure, plucky young fighter! He would have been Marcus Warwick the Valiant except Valiant wouldn't fit in the field.
Then we increase his stats a tad. He starts out dumb as a box of rocks, but boy howdy he'll be able to fight. Hopefully he'll live long enough to solve some complex puzzles and calculus and get that Intelligence score up a bit if the first goblin he meets doesn't turn him into chowder.
Then our brave Hero is welcomed into town by the Sheriff and his large orange Goon (goony goon goon goon.) We head west, into the lowest west side of Spielburg, hit the Inn for a quick nosh, hit the Magic shop only to find out that the goth chick running it has nothing for us, and on to the much more manly Adventurer's Guild where we sign the logbook, check out the cool stuffed heads and chat with the old Guildmaster. Especially of interest is what he has to say about his old buddy Stefan, the brigands and the Curse that Baba Yaga has placed on the Valley.
There's also a job board where we can check out all there is to do for an adventurer in these parts (and we'll do it all!)
Then it's on to the rougher North Spielburg, where a lovely lady with a horse's body sells us some apples and the dry goods storekeeper makes us envious about armor we can't afford - yet.
Next update: more North Spielburg, Spielburg Castle, and other points in between.
